Sour Evan
Episode 37 of the Dean Men of Whiskey podcast talks about the live of Evan Williams. We all know his name from the label of the bottle of whiskey but who was the man? This wobble shot was inspired by the man, Evan Williams, an 18th century Welsh immigrant that settled in what is now Louisville, Kentucky and started distilling bourbon.
Ingredients
Evan Williams Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Evan Williams greets you with a rich aroma of vanilla and mint, and follows in taste with hints of oak, caramel and brown sugar and a super satisfying finish.
Pama Pomegranate Liqueur
Made with all-natural California pomegranates, This liqueur offers a highly mixable taste profile that is, at the same time, sweet and tart.
Fresh Pomegranate Juice
Lemon Juice
Sugar
Gelatin
How it’s made…
Here is what we did
Bloom 1 tablespoon of gelatin in 3 tablespoons of water.
In a small bowl, combine 1 oz Evan Williams Kentucky Straight Bourbon, 1 oz Pama Pomegranate Liqueur, 1 oz fresh pomegranate juice, and 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice. Set aside.
In a small saucepan, bring 3 ounces of water to a boil.
Remove from heat and add in your bloomed gelatin and stir until it is completely dissolved.
Stir in your small bowl of cold ingredients.
Pour your mixture into your mold.
There’s no sense sitting around waiting for the gelatin to get firm.
Make yourself a cocktail while you wait for the gelatin to sit.
Forbidden Sour
This cocktail recipe uses Larceny Bourbon. If you do not have any on hand you can use the Evan Williams that you are using for your wobble shots as a substitute.
1 oz Larceny Bourbon
1 oz Oama Pomegranate Liqueur
1/2 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin. Add ice and shake until well chilled. Fill a rocks glass with ice and strain cocktail into glass. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
